GIS Maps

Botetout County's GIS (Geographic Information System) mapping data is available to view online. Simply put, a GIS is a sophisticated computer based mapping system which enables the user to simultaneously view maps graphically and display additional data about various features shown on the maps.

Botetourt County's online GIS interface is intended to help all users more quickly access general mapping information. Currently available data layers include: streets, addresses, magisterial district and voting precincts, school districts, fire and rescue districts, electric service areas, private refuse hauler zones, zip codes, scanned topography, and aerial photos. Tax parcel mapping is also viewable online.

Botetourt County's GIS Department welcomes input from its citizens about our Web-based GIS. It is our intent to give users the ability to more quickly and easily access map-related information. Questions/comments/suggestions can be sent via e-mail to Spencer Suter at ssuter@botetourt.org or by calling the GIS office at (540) 473-8301

Please Read the Following Completely Before Proceeding!

  • Prior to using the service for the first time, you'll be prompted to download and execute an Active X mapviewer program. This one-time, simple process may take up to 6 minutes on a dial-up connection. Refer to the System Requirements available in the Help Menu on the Online GIS Homepage.
  • Important: You must disable any pop-up blockers installed on your web browser before the program will load. Contact the GIS office for assistance.
  • When working in the map, hovering the mouse pointer over a map feature or command symbol will cause a pop-up window to appear, giving you pertinent information about the feature or symbol.
  • View a Help File containing an FAQ and explanation of how to use the program tools.
